Afghanistan Vs Bangladesh Match Highlights – ICC World Cup 2024

Afghanistan and Bangladesh are all set to clash in the upcoming 52nd match of the ongoing tournament T20 World Cup. the venue for the match is  Arnos Vale Stadium, Kingstown, St Vincent. This match holds immense significance as one team from group 1 advancing to semifinals.

Afghanistan has gained momentum in the tournament, especially after their victory against Australia. Their chance of reaching the semifinals could be further increased if Australia looses to india on monday  

In contrast, Bangladesh will face difficulty as it has already lost its last two matches Despite this setback, the team is determined to demonstrate their resilience and skills against Afghanistan.

  • Rashid Khan took 4 wickets and Naveen ul Haq added two more after the rain interruptions, leading Afghanistan over Bangladesh to an 8-run win. This win secured Afghanistan’s first-ever semi-final spot in the T20 World Cup. 
  • Litton Das from Bangladesh chased an unbeaten 54 but lacked support from the team and thus Bangladesh failed to chase the received target of 114. 
  • Rain impacted the match, especially Bangladesh’s inning as the game was paused twice. Naveen-ul-Haq held a crucial over as he dismissed Najmul Shanto and Shakib al Hasan. This put Bangladesh on the back foot at 31/3 in just 3 overs. 
  • Afghanistan, like their last victorious match against Australia, won the toss and chose to bat 
  • Afghanistan set the target at 115/5 in 20  overs, thanks to the last 6 by Rashid Khan. Bangladesh made a change in their lineups. 
  • Afghanistan boosted their semifinal chances with a historic win over Australia.  Bangladesh, after two defeats in the Super 8 stage, had minimal chances to progress
  • Australian Captain Mitchel Marsh hoped for Bangladesh to win as it aided their semi-final aspiration, but the captain and the team expressed disappointment over their loss.
