BCCI has recently updated the rules for the participation of the Under-19 players for the upcoming season, it appears that some of the clauses have been relaxed.
TW3 Test Results:
The BCCI had said that those who fail the TW3 test can participate in the Under19 completions for three years as per the amended rule. Earlier the permission was only granted for 2 years.
If you fail the TW3 test which is a bone maturity test but your birth is registered within two years, you can now play in Under-19 tournaments for up to three years instead of two.
If you pass the TW3 test but your birth is registered after two years then also you can play in the Under-19 tournaments for up to three years.
Birth Registration:
According to the communique, the existing rule is: “The Players who have failed TW3 test at U-19 level but the birth is registered within two years of birth, will be allowed two years of participation in Under-19 tournaments.” The amended rule says, “Such players will now be allowed a maximum of three years of Under-19 participation.”
The catch here is about the registration of the birth of a player. Each birth certificate carries the date of registration of one’s birth and the BCCI here seems to allow up to two years for the registration. It is a different matter that of late, the birth is registered immediately, often within six months. That issue though is not in contention here.
But significantly enough, if the birth certificate of a player is registered after more than two years of birth, he will be allowed only one year of direct participation in the Under-19 category. This is an unchanged rule.
Participation count:
One important rule also has remained unchanged. That is, “Once a player participates in any Under-19 match in the playing XI during any given season, the counting of 4 seasons will begin irrespective of if the player participates in the following season or not.”
