Who will Rohit choose as a keeper?- Rishab Pant/ KL Rahul

Rohit Sharma on choosing between Rishab Pant and KL Rahul as India’s Keeper for Sri Lanka ODIs

Rohi Sharma, the captain of the Indian Cricket Team, has discussed his dilemma about making a decision, as he has to select between Rishab Pant and KL Rahul to be the wicketkeeper for the ODI in Sri Lanka. Rohit maturely acknowledged the situation and made a very thoughtful statement. He mentioned that it is a difficult situation to choose between the two as they both are talented and have won many matches for India. He then claimed that this is a positive situation for him as the captain prefer to have multiple options rather than not having enough. This statement changes the perspective all the way passing it through a positive eye lens.

Team selection and Player Freedom

“It is not easy to pick a team or a player when you have quality like that. It is always nice to have problems like that while picking up the teams, so you know that there is quality in the squad. I look forward to these kinds of problems till I am the captain,” he said smilingly.

The statement made by Rohit Sharma emphasized that while it is not easy to pick the team as there are many quality players out there, instead of stressing it over he rather appreciates the situation as having such choices is a good mark for him as a captain.

The team management has created a relaxed atmosphere to help players perform without fear of pressure. Rohit also mentioned that creating an atmosphere where the teammates can perform without fear or pressure is most important. It is necessary to create a healthy environment where players can focus on their game rather than worrying about individual performance or game results. Rohit stressed the importance of allowing players to express themselves freely on the field.

Suryakumar’s Captaincy:

Rohit praised Suryakumar Yadav, as he captained the T20 format against Sri Lanka and India won the series by 3-0. He believed that Suryakumar, his successor as India’s T20 Captain has performed well in his first series as captain.

Rohit further added “It’s early days (in his captaincy); I don’t want to talk too much about it. He has done a great job, and let him continue doing it.

“We start jumping into things (judgment) quite quickly, regardless of wins or losses. Let him do things consistently, and then we can talk about it,” he said.

“It’s definitely a good start for them in that format. They played well as a unit, which is what Team India is all about. I’m sure they are heading in the right direction,” he said.
