Shikhar Dhawan announces retirement from all cricket formats
Shikhar Dhawan, one of the top Indian player has recently announced his retirement from international and domestic cricket. The left-hander batsman has been a key player in India’s batting order for the last decade and now at 38 the player has decided to step down from playing for India but might appear in domestic league matches such as IPL. Dhawan has played 167 ODIs, 34 Tests, and 68 T20Is throughout his journey in cricket scoring a total of 10,867 runs, including 24 centuries and 44 fifties.
Shikhar Dhawan’s international journey began when he debuted in 2010 during an ODI against Australia, then he made his mark in 2013 during a Test match against Australia, where he scored 100 in just 85 balls making it the fastest century by a debutant.
Dhawan’s all-over journey in cricket and especially the Test was filled with ups and downs he scored 2315 runs in 40 matches with some memorable performances. He played well against Sri Lanka and New Zealand. Shikar Dhawan had a tough time during a tour of England in 2018 where his performance faded. In 2022 he played his last Test for the team.
Shikhar Dhawan took his social media to announce the news as he said he was not emotional about the decision but was filled with gratitude. He feels that its time to take a rest as he played cricket half of his life.
