BCCI has called off some changes regarding the venue for the forthcoming series between India and Bangladesh. The upcoming T20I series between the two teams was earlier scheduled to be played at Dharamshala which will now be held at Gwalior. The change of venue was necessary to conduct the matches smoothly. There are various reasons due to which the venue has been shifted to Gwalior.
The changes were necessary as the stadium at Dharamshala was undergoing renovation, construction, and upgrades carried out by Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association. The dressing rooms are particularly under renovation due to which it is unavailable for the matches.
Though the venue has changed, the match will still be played on 6th October and it will be the first International fixture at the newly built Shrimant Madhavrao Scindia Cricket Stadium. It will be the first international match in Gwalior since Sachin Tendulkar hit a double hundred in an ODI against South Africa.
Summary: Venue Swap
Original Venue: Dharamshala
New Venue: Gwalior
Date: 6th October
Reason for Change: undergoing renovation & construction at the original site. \
India vs England- Venue change
There is also a swap in venues for the first and second T20Is against England. While the dates remain the same (January 22 and 25 respectively), the first match will now be played in Kolkata instead of Chennai. The MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, which was earlier scheduled to host the series opener, will host the second T20I.
The reason for the venue change was that Kolkata Police requested the change due to their commitments and obligations related to Republic Day celebrations.
